Developed for the exhibition Africa Among Us at the Benaki Museum, the visual identity was created in response to the donation of a collection of African objects and the stories of people of African heritage who were born in or currently live in Greece.
The exhibition explores questions of belonging, memory, and collective identity through personal narratives and cultural artifacts. Reflecting these themes, the communication design is built around a modular typographic system composed of individual blocks that assemble to form the word AFRICA. Resembling a mosaic, the structure acts as a visual metaphor for the diverse cultures and communities that shape contemporary Greek society.
The exhibition subtitle is arranged across three columns and three languages, reinforcing the ideas of plurality, coexistence, and cultural exchange while emphasizing that Africa is not a distant place, but an integral part of everyday life in Greece.
The poster series is structured through three layers: object, color, and information. Selected exhibits of anthropomorphic sculptures and masks evoke human presence and dialogue with a vibrant color palette inspired by the visual culture of African communities.
